This policy explains what happens to your personal information when you use this website or send an enquiry through it. It is written to be read, not to be skimmed past, and it describes what the site genuinely does rather than every possibility a longer policy might reserve.
1. Who is responsible
The Private Chef Marrakech, operated by Chef Rachid Ahram in Marrakesh, Morocco, decides why and how the information described here is used. Contact details are at the bottom of this page.
2. What is collected
Only what you type into the enquiry form, plus the technical information any web server records in order to serve a page.
- From the enquiry form: your name and email address, which are required, and optionally your telephone number, the type of occasion, the date, the number of guests and your message.
- From your browser, automatically: your IP address, the page requested, the date and time, your browser and operating system, and the page you arrived from. These sit in the server access log.
- Your IP address is also held in memory for fifteen minutes so the form cannot be submitted more than five times from the same connection. It is not written to disk for that purpose.
3. What is not collected
This website sets no cookies of any kind. There is no analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixel, no social media button that reports back, and no profile is built about you. Because nothing is stored on your device, there is no cookie banner to dismiss.
There is no database behind this site. Your enquiry is not saved into one.
4. Why it is used, and on what basis
Your details are not used to send marketing. You will receive a reply to your enquiry and nothing else unless you ask for it.
- To read your enquiry and reply to it. Under the GDPR this is a step taken at your request before entering into a contract, and under Moroccan Law 09-08 it is processing necessary to respond to you.
- To keep the site working and to protect the form from automated abuse. The legal basis is legitimate interest in a functioning, non-spammed website.
5. Who sees it
Your enquiry is delivered by email to the chef and is read by him and, where an event requires it, by the team working on that event.
It is never sold, rented or traded. It is not shared with anyone else except where the law requires it.
- The email provider that hosts the mailbox receives the message, as any email provider necessarily does.
- The company hosting this website processes requests to it on our behalf.
- The typeface used across the site is loaded from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address when a page loads. No other request leaves this site. Every photograph and video you see is served from this site itself.
6. How long it is kept
- Enquiry emails: kept for as long as needed to answer you and, if you become a client, for the duration of the working relationship and the period Moroccan law requires business records to be retained afterwards.
- Server access logs: kept for a short operational period, typically no more than a few months.
- The rate-limiting record of your IP address: fifteen minutes, then it is gone.
7. Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information held about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to have its use restricted, to receive a copy in a portable form, or to object to its use. Write to the address below and you will get an answer within one month.
- If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you may also complain to your national data protection authority.
- If you are in Morocco, you may complain to the Commission Nationale de contrôle de la protection des Données à caractère Personnel (CNDP).
8. Security, and where your data goes
The site is served over HTTPS, so what you type into the form is encrypted in transit. Email between servers is encrypted where both ends support it, which is not something any sender can guarantee end to end - please do not put anything you would not want read by a third party into a contact form, here or anywhere else.
The chef is based in Morocco. If you write from the European Economic Area, answering you necessarily means your message is read outside it. Morocco is not the subject of an EU adequacy decision, so that transfer happens because it is necessary to respond to your own request.
9. Children
This service is aimed at adults and the form is not intended for anyone under 16. If a child has sent an enquiry, write to us and it will be deleted.
10. Changes to this policy
If what the site collects changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top is updated. Material changes will be described here rather than made quietly.
